We would like to introduce our grandson, Jacob Thomas Weir—age 19, who begins his 2-year mission August 1, 2017 as a young church service missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jacob has autism. But he has always wanted to serve a mission. Although he isn’t able to serve a proselyting mission, he is pleased with the opportunity to be a service missionary. He will be working in the Dan Peterson Seminary for special-needs youth. He also will serve in the temple and at the bishops’ storehouse. He is eager to assist anyone in need, including mowing lawns and shoveling snow for neighbors. He has a good heart and is a hard worker.
Jacob will report his mission experiences in this blog as he discovers many “Reasons to Rejoice,” notwithstanding his disabilities.
