Is Truth Elusive?

Where are the road signs directing us towards truth?

Where are the road signs directing us towards truth?

This is a plaguing question in the world today: “Where can I find truth?”  In today’s internet world, vast amounts information are available to help answer almost every question.  However, in using this resource, one must carefully evaluate its veracity and value. One can clearly be misled by misinformation. This especially applies to those seeking a knowledge of God and religion. The marvelous thing is that any individual who desires to know truth about God may receive that conviction. The Lord Himself gave the formula when He said, “If any man will do [the will of the Father], he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself” (John 7:17).  As I apply this experiment in my life, I find it takes studying the word of God combined with multiple sincere prayers. I also seek truth from other credible sources, such as the revelations given to modern-day prophets. It is a process of layering bits and pieces of truth to illuminate the whole, rather than a singular event. Finally, I need to live the principles as the truest test of veracity.  Peace of mind comes to witness that I am on the right path.

Faith in God our creator and in his only beloved son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost, as we keep Gods commandments and covenants and search the word of God in the scriptures and turn to God in prayer and serve our fellow man, faith will increase till it becomes knowledge and then truth is established and the Holy Ghost testifies and becomes the sure word of God. Then truth is not elusive . May we endure to the end in our savior and Lord Jesus Christ, the light and truth of the world.

      Walt-
Thank you for your very insightful comment. Following your formula eliminates all doubts and serves yet another purpose, as it draws us closer to our Heavenly Father creating a greater desire to keep His commandments. As this process is refined as we identify within ourselves those areas needing refinement, which in turn leads to change.
