I am studying about faith because I want strengthen my own. Faith is not passive, wishful thinking. Faith is the first principle of the gospel. It is a principle of action and power, and must be centered on the Lord Jesus Christ. “There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). The witness of the Holy Ghost confirms my knowledge of Christ’s existence, the correct idea of His character, and the assurance that I am on the right path according to His will. Having faith in Jesus Christ means relying completely on His wisdom and timing. It means trusting in His infinite power, Atonement and love. It means that what I now understand—I embrace; what I don’t yet understand—I trust. Having faith in Christ means that I believe His teachings and strive earnestly to keep His commandments, repenting when I err, while trusting in His power to sanctify. It means that I will endure to the end in faithfulness. These principles of faith strengthen my resolve to walk in the Savior’s footsteps.
